'ESC' is my final film of my BA Animation degree course. It follows an office-worker rabbit who lives every day trapped in his monotonous work cycle, reliving the same moments over and over. One day on a smoke break he encounters a wild rabbit which shifts his life forever, haunting him with constant visions, long after and pulling him down the rabbit hole to confront himself and the nature of his reality.

Squab (2023)

'Squab' is a stop motion short film created at the end of my second year of university. The film draws influence from the silent films of the 1920s, and German Expressionist cinema, whilst the story follows the last remaining pigeon in a not-to-distant future, who falls in love with a robot pigeon and soon discovers the lengths he must go to in order to be loved and accepted.

Release

'Squab' was nominated for Best Animation at the Royal Television Society North-West Student awards in March 2024, and while it didn't win Best Animation, I did win the Craft Award for Best Animation Director!

'Squab' was selected and screened at HOME Cinema, Manchester, as well as being featured in the Official Selection for Cardiff Animation Nights, Alternative Film Festival, and Wales International Film Festival. I was thrilled and so excited to have such a positive reception to my work during my first experience screening and entering film festivals!

In March 2023, 'Out Of Office' was nominated for Best Animation at the RTS North-West Student Awards!

My final film of my first year at university. Berta, a robot doomed to spend her life working alone in an abandoned office, catches a glimpse of the outside world and a promise of a freedom she's never felt, forcing her to consider how far she'll go to touch her dream.

The concluding piece to my final major project of my Art Foundation Diploma.
Entitled "human, nature", this piece synthesises exploration and research into the relationship between humans and nature, and specifically the reverence of nature expressed through nature worship and Paganistic cult practices. It also considers reasoning behind abandoning ordinary lifestyles in pursuit of the 'Supernature' and the reaction to an overwhelmingly modern and technological world.

Hello!

(I'm the one in the middle!)

Hi, my name's Liv and I'm a recent animation graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University. My focus within animation is stop motion, as I am a hands-on maker, however I love experimenting and creating across many mediums and skillsets!My interest in art ran all through school and into an Art Foundation Diploma, where I began to transition my focus from fine art painting to filmmaking, prop and model-making, and animation, leading me into my undergraduate studies. During my time at university, I have gained a wide range of skills including: stop motion animating, puppet fabrication, set design and fabrication, model-making, character sculpting, character concept art and design, storyboarding, scriptwriting and video editing.My films have been fortunate enough to be included in festivals such as the BFI Future Film Festival, and to have won two prestigious awards:
-The Royal Television Society North-West Student Craft Award for Best Animation Director for 'Squab'.
-The Royal Television Society North-West Student Award for Best Animation for 'ESC'.I'm eager to find my first steps into the creative industries, and I'm excited to continue to create, grow, and develop into my artistic practice!
